Cheers to a new year!
I can’t believe we are here already… on the dawn of a new year!
2015 was one of the best years of my life and it is so exciting to know that it will only continue to get better from here. It is so easy to allow life to jumble into one blurred and skewed “moment.” It takes a great deal of intention to recognize the importance of a moment that will soon become a coveted memory. Here is a list of my favorite highlights and memories from each month of 2015:
January– we moved into our new apartment, and celebrated Nick’s 27th birthday with a cookout and were surrounded by friends and family. We sent out our wedding invitations! We also had a great deal of stress in January, but stress is to be expected in life, and it definitely didn’t stop us from having a great year!
February– we celebrated my bridal shower, saw Bob Seger in concert, and I had an awesome bachelorette weekend with my sisters and closest friends in Key West.
March- we celebrated my nephew’s second birthday with a minion themed BBQ, my pups turned 14 (wow!), and best of all… NICK AND I GOT MARRIED! The festivities continued into the weekend before leaving for our honeymoon. See photos from our wedding here!
April- we began the month of April in Hawaii on our honeymoon! We made many memories and had an amazing time! We feel so fortunate to have had the chance to have our dream honeymoon in Maui. Watch a highlight real from our honeymoon here!
May- Lots of May birthdays were celebrated!
June- I spent Father’s day on the boat with my family; it was a beautiful day…I love celebrating my dad on his special day!
July- Nick and I celebrated 10 years together on July 1st. We spent July 4th in NPB and watched the fireworks from the golf course. Ethan caught the attention of the performers on stage and was invited up to dance with them; that was the cutest thing I have ever seen. I turned 26! Yikes! I spent the day with my husband and friends- we went paddle boarding and then out for happy hour later. We also went down to Islamorada at the end of July for mini lobster season with my entire family… a coveted tradition!
August- lots of birthdays and summer fun.
September- My niece and nephew had a silly string fight that yielded some good photos and lots of laughs! My friend Katie had her baby and I got to be her labor nurse… that’s pretty awesome! My family joined me in my efforts to help fight against childhood cancer in the St. Jude walk/run to end childhood cancer. My dad had his kickoff party for his campaign for Palm Beach County Commissioner of District 3.
October- I started this blog with the help of my cousin, Katelyn, and her husband, Matt. Thanks again guys! (Visit Kate’s blog here). I changed my name and officially became a Fitzgerald (read more about that here). We went to Zoo Miami with my sister, her fiancé, and their kids and got to feed the giraffes! On Halloween we went trick or treating with my niece and nephew. It is so fun to experience holidays through the eyes of a child.
November- We celebrated my sister-in-law’s birthday with a yummy brunch, followed by a yummy dinner. We celebrated Thanksgiving! We did not re-sign our lease and started looking for a home… still no luck yet (haha).
December- We spent the first weekend in December in NYC! I had never been and always wanted to go at Christmas time. It was a gift from my father-in-law and we had a really great time! We had a pretty awesome game night with almost all of my siblings. Nick and I celebrated our first Christmas as husband and wife, read more about that here!
We had an amazing year and look forward to 2016, welcoming its newness with open arms!
Here are a few of our New Year’s resolutions:
Nick: become a published writer (he is currently working on writing a book, keep an eye out!).
Me: enjoy the outdoors more often, seek more adventure and remember to take pictures of said adventure!
Our resolutions as a couple: fill in our new “Fitzgerald Family Cookbook” with recipes we try and love throughout the course of our marriage, fill in our Q&A a day book (a book that asks a question a day, every day, for a year and is then repeated for 3 years- it will be interesting to see how our answers for the same questions change from one year to the next), continue our Navigator’s Council every Sunday night (something we read about on another blog and fell in love with; we have been doing it religiously since September. Continue to genuinely pursue one another, cuddle whenever we can, travel, enjoy life and embrace change with bravery, grace and humility.
To those of you reading who have contributed to the joy we have experienced this past year, thank you from the bottom of our hearts- we love making memories with you. We wish you all a happy and healthy New Year!
