One Saturday Morning
This past Saturday I had the pleasure of spending quality time with my husband. You may be thinking, “well of course you did, he’s your husband!” We see each other daily, yes, but more often than not our schedules clash or something is planned in the middle of the day; we rarely get a full day just the two of us. So this past Saturday was a treat.
We woke up to no alarm clock, slowly got out of bed, and got our day started. No rushing necessary…it was liberating.
The day started with a breakfast/coffee at Coffee Culture Cafe & Eatery in Jupiter. The morning was slightly overcast and mildly breezy, lending a “fall feel” to this Florida town. So naturally, we chose to enjoy our coffee outside. However, in true Florida fashion, the sun found its way around the clouds and it quickly became too hot to enjoy coffee outdoors so we moved inside. This happened to be a great decision. After all, what good is a saucer full of an artisan latté without the accompaniment of coffeehouse music? We enjoyed our coffee over a few games of checkers… giant checkers! It was the best slow start to a Saturday in a long time!
On our way back to the car a local boutique, Francescas, had the best window display that just drew me right in… darn! My loving husband, ever so patiently, shopped with me in this tiny boutique for far longer than should have been necessary. He didn’t even guilt trip me about purchasing the many things I just “had to have.” He truly is the best shopping buddy.
On our way “home” we stopped at the local mall that wasn’t on our way home at all. For good reason though…hubby’s turn to get something! Nick needed a pair of dress shoes in brown and he needed an inexpensive pair of sunglasses. We were able to find both at Aldo. The staff was very helpful and Nick finally got a grown up pair of brown shoes! It was a miracle in a sense.
Again, in an attempt to make it home without spending any more money I suddenly remembered that I had a Groupon to a local bistro. Who can pass up a good Groupon? So we had lunch at The Blend Bistro and it was delicious! The food is organic and “in season” with vegan and gluten free options. My favorite thing about the meal, albeit a small detail, was the pickled onion on the small salad that accompanied my lunch. I know, random…but so delicious! I’d recommend a dish, but the menu changes with the seasons…awesome, right?!
After lunch, we splurged on a his-and-hers bag of candy from It’s Sugar. Nick’s bag was full of sweet and tart things like jellybeans, runts, and sprees. Whereas my bag was full of sweet and sour things like watermelon sour patch, sour cherries, sour belts etc. We are most definitely two individuals.
We finally made it home where we spent about 40 minutes scrolling through On Demand and Netflix before deciding on a movie. Are we the only ones plagued with this? Too many choices! Anyway, we never did pick a movie (typical) and just binge watched Parks and Recreation instead and ordered pizza for dinner!!
It was a Saturday well spent, where time didn’t hold any constraints and calories didn’t count!
